Project Hilt – Sika

Originally built in 1905, prestigious No. 7 Cleveland Row will be converted from its current use as offices to residential dwellings in the form of 6 high spec private apartments.

Along with No.7 Cleveland Row, the neighbouring buildings in Russell Court, currently acting as garages and bedsit accommodation, will also be converted into three 3 bedroom family houses, a 1 bedroom apartment and car parking for both Russell Court and Cleveland Row.

Specialist contractor Excel Waterproofing Contractors Ltd. were chosen by Ellmer Construction to tackle the waterproofing for this project. Following design consultation Excel carried out over 980m² of the Sika 1 pre-bag system to an existing Basement.

All walls and floor were prepared using special adapted scabbling machines followed by pressure washing to remove any remaining loose material. Over 250m of the Sika combiflex was installed to construction joints, followed by the Sika pre-bag system to the walls, full height to the perimeter and 1.5m high to the internal walls. A 35mm Sika pre-bag floor was installed throughout the basement area.

As a Sika approved contractor we are proficient in the design and recommendation of their products. Sika first started manufacturing waterproofing materials in 1910 and are confident that their products will not let you down. Failures can cost thousands and so it’s important to Sika as a responsible manufacturer that they help minimise the risk of failure as much as possible. By introducing a provisional and registered contractor scheme they can monitor workmanship and conduct to ensure whoever they recommend will deliver a quality installation competitively
